Latro! Fremo! - L!F!

Genre: screamo/emo-violence/punk
Country: UK

Here's a CD I totally forgot about, but am sure glad I found again. Hailing from Norwich, UK, Latro! Fremo! bring a chaotic blend of passionate aggression and delay-soaked melody that's in a similar vein to Scotsmen Mesa Verde. This record was all recorded in the drummer of Math's bedroom, so you know it was made in very capable hands. I'm not even sure if these guys are still active, with most members going to University, but I really hope to see more things from them in the near future.

Ciudad del Cabo - "Ciudad del Cabo"

Genre: emo/screamo/punk
Country: Spain

This is perhaps Spain's answer to a more meldodic La Quiete, though this record has enough of it's own hooks and interesting melodies to stand out, rather than just straight up imitate.
Admittedly I don't really know a great deal of Spanish bands (closest being Adorno, and they're Portugese!) but if there are more like Ciudad del Cabo out there I need to start digging around!

Clues - "Clues"

Genre: indie/psychedelic/experimental
Country: US

Admittedly I'm not a huge Unicorns/Islands/Arcade Fire fan (mainly through lack of exposure) infact it's strange that I've gotten so into this. Perhaps it's the catchy yet quirky/odd melodies or maybe it's the fact that every song sounds very different to the last.
The moment I heard "Cave Mouth" with it's edgy guitar and xylophone riffs I knew I was onto something special.
If you're into any of the said bands, or even enjoy the likes of Animal Collective, P:ano or Fleet Foxes you owe it to yourself to give this record a listen.

The Khayembii Communique - "The Khayembii Communique"

Genre: screamo/emo
Country: US

This was a record recommended to me by a member of The Flood.
It took me a couple of listens before it really sank in how good this album is. The first thing I noticed was how raw the screaming is, not to mention relentless. The second thing I noticed was how odd-sounding it is for a screamo record.
The Khayembii Communique have quite a unique sound going on (some tracks are even acoustic) damn good though.

Marat - "Songs From The Crypt"

Genre: screamo/emo
Country: Netherlands

A good friend stumbled across this band and recommended them to me. I was surprised that I hadn't heard of them already considering the line up consists of members from legendary Dutchmen, Shikari.
As soon as I heard the opening to "The Dirt That Clogs The Cosmos" I was blown away.
Sadly, these 4 songs are all that exist from the now defunct group, but every track on here will pull at your heartstrings.
Genuinely one of the most visceral and passionate screamo records I have ever heard.

Piglet - "Lava Land"

Genre: math rock/indie/emo
Country: US

Hailing from Chicago, you can certainly hear a certain Kinsella influence going on in Piglets sound, but as an instrumental group they push more towards the experimentation of math bands like Tera Melos and Giraffes? Giraffes! it's almost as if Owls had a jam session with Lightning Bolt, and as true with any math band the drumming is especially tight, following complex and crazy song stuctures.
This is an upload of their only release before breaking up, Lava Land, with a couple of other songs thrown in for good measure (Mad Science is especially amazing!)

Age Sixteen - "Open Up Finders, Please"

Genre: emo/screamo
Country: US

Clean guitars, soaring melodies and screamed/talked vocals make for a record that's both textured and emotive. After a couple of DIY demos, Age Sixteen have finally released a full-length that's hopefully going to get them a lot of well-deserved attention. Apologies in advance for the .M4a format, i'll re-upload this in high quality .mp3 format when my copy comes in the mail.

--Link Updated--

Now upped in .mp3, because .m4a is the devil.
The packaging for this CD is super sweet, screen-printed cardboard sleeves with hand-numbered text book page insert, even more reason to buy a copy for yourself ;)

Boy Problems - "Summer Tour Songs"

Genre: emo/math rock
Country: US

This is just a mediafire upload of the songs available for d/l on their myspace. Imagine Algernon Cadwallader decided to become a screamo band and you wouldn't be too far off Boy Problems sound, and seeing as they're both from Philadelphia and were regular tour buddies you can understand the connection. These songs are positively brimming with melody and creativity. The members other/current projects can be found on their myspace too.

Tristan Tzara - "Omorina Nad Evropom"

Genre: screamo/emo-violence
Country: Germany

Tristan Tzara's first record, and yes, it's just as good and alas just as short as "Da Ne Zaboravis" :)

Tristan Tzara - "Da Ne Zaboravis"

Genre: screamo/emo-violence
Country: Germany

Powerful emo-violence from Germany, Tristan Tzara broke up back in 2002 and featured members of Kobra Khan and the mighty Louise Cyphre. None of these seven tracks clock over 2 minutes, but it's relentless and brute emotional sound will leave you wanting more... luckily I'm posting another of their records next.

O! The Joy - "Zen Mode"

Genre: math rock/indie
Country: US

Intuitive and Infectious math rock with a hint of At The Drive-In-esque, post-emo delivery.

Kaospilot - "Shadows"

Genre: screamo/hardcore
Country: Norway

So i've finally got the internet back, and what better way to break in the first post of '09 by uploading one of my most anticipated albums of this year.
I've been waiting for this record since Kaospilot posted "Colossus" on their myspace back in '07 and here it is, in all it's epic glory.
